CUPPING

Cupping is a technique that uses glass and heat or plastic with a pump to create suction on the skin. This increases circulation, activates the lymphatic system, releases toxins, and opens up meridians (channels where the energy flows). This is a great way to increase localized healing and release muscles, decreasing pain. It is useful for asthma, chest congestion, early stages of cold and flu, muscle pain or tightness, or poor circulation.

What Are The Benefits Of Acupuncture

Acupuncture is an ancient form of traditional Chinese medicine that has been practiced for at least 3000 years. It traditionally involves piercing hair-fine metal needles in different places all over the body with the goal of improving the body’s energy flow, in order to improve health and wellbeing, and cure disease.

In recent decades, "Western medical acupuncture" has gained traction as an effective treatment option for many illnesses and disorders. It uses the same techniques as traditional acupuncture but the explanation for how they work is different. Rather than these improvements being due to a better flow of energy, it is thought that they are due to the physiological response that they elicit in the body. This can include the release of the body's natural painkillers, such as endorphins.

There has been a large amount of research showing that acupuncture can help to treat a wide range of illnesses and conditions. There is more evidence available for some conditions than others, but the ones that do show promise include:

  • chemotherapy side effects, including vomiting and nausea

  • dental pain after surgery

  • headaches, such as tension headaches and migraines

  • menstrual cramps

  • labor pain

  • fibromyalgia

  • lower back pain

  • neck pain

  • myofascial pain

  • allergic rhinitis

  • tennis elbow

  • osteoarthritis

  • addiction

  • digestive issues

  • hay fever

  • postoperative pain

Beyond its use for these illnesses, injuries, and disorders, acupuncture is a useful relaxation method. On the other hand, it can also help you to feel more energized. The chemicals that it releases, such as endorphins and serotonin can also help to reduce stress and boost your mood.

Whether you believe that acupuncture works because of its effect on the body’s energy or if it's due to the release of chemicals by the body, it is a complementary treatment with an impressive body of research demonstrating its benefits for a wide variety of conditions, and it can also help to reduce your stress and improve your mood.
